What is the best algae eater for a 20 gallon?

Which ever one you think looks the best.

You dont buy the fish for the tank, you buy the tank for the fish.

But the only one i would recommend would be the otocinclus, for that size tank.

BUT, he will not CLEAN your tank, im sure you already know this, but fish poop. SO its just moving the waste into your substrate and water column when it eats algae.

Best way to battle algae is to Balance out your nutrients,Light and Carbon dioxide levels.

Good luck! :)

I love amano shrimp. Again, it depends on the other fish in the tank.

I really like my male bristle nosed.

ok first things first... you never NEED AN ALGAE EATER!!! it is bad practice to buy a fish just for the soul purpose of cleaning your tank for you... fish poop-- so even if he gets rid of some algae it will acctually increase your bio load.. because guess what he turns that algae into??

on that note.. if you simply WANT an algae eater-- cory's.. or small plecos will be good (make sure its a species that STAYS small.. such as a BN for example)

snails are also good

I always keep a small pleco in my 20g tank.. right now I have a chocolate pleco in there--- but I do that knowing that when it grows.. it will have to be moved into a larger home (which I can accomodate easily)

for a tank ofthat size imho u can only have nerite snails or ottos .
you dont give your tank perameters or your current stock if you give these we eill be able to give you a better idea
