I just got this fish magazine and man, there are alot of foods. i am feeding my tetra neons some tropical flakes right now, but i saw i can feed them blood worms. are the blood worms better nutrition for them?? and, can i feed them flakes a couple of days and switch to the blood worms, or is that unhealthy for the fish?? thanks for the help...

They will eat bloodworms, and it won't take much. Small bits of frozen or prepared foods will be fine. Mine lived on a staple of Hikari Micro Pellets with a smattering of bloodworms and a bit of brine shrimp. A varied diet is healthier for any fish than the same ole' thing every day. I'd feed them their staple food for a few days then treat them with something fresher and tastier.

I have some freeze dried bloodworms that I've tried to feed my neons, but they seem to big for the neons little mouths. I also feed them Hikari Micro Pellets as well as flake food, I also have New Life Spectrum Small Fish Formula. My Neons are about 1" average, and I've had trouble with them being able to eat much else. How large are your neons? Daphnia may be a good treat for them but I haven't tried it yet, maybe someone knows?

Mine eat staple flakes, veggie flakes, blood worms and daphnia - they'll take anything that they can get their teeny mouths around - a lot of times they'll crowd around the larger fish and wait for them to spit out large flakes. Sometimes they grab all the smaller pieces and the bigger fish ends up with nothing! :D
