This is an interesting twist to our tank, I think We have a vocal Fish(s) maybe you can help me identify which one, The following list is our aquarium, all of which is 2 or more in quanity the sound is a very sharp water dripping sound, I have investigated around the tank filter and everywhere I can think of and there is no water, the sounds only occur when there is little to noone in the room, Is it possible to have a Vocal fish?

Gourami's Gold, blue, Fire, opilecent

Tinfoil barb

tiger barb

Columbian shark

Raphiel <-- has many diffrent names Ie chocolate catfish etc

Lepord pleco

mixed fruit tetra (unpainted)

platties

mollies

probably a few others,

I think that raphael catfish are capable of making a croaking sound. Striped ones can, I know, as mine does. I don't know about your variety.

mine is brown with several white stripes on them

Oh Yeah, I have 2 clown loaches, I dont think it's them though

This is more of a sharp plop from a water drop, not a cracking noise, but now that you mention it I have heard them do that though.

My clowns and bala sharks are very loud when I feed them cucumber:)

Do you know if kuhlies make noises, Holly?

I'm severely hearing impaired, so I wouldn't know if they were. While I was at the tank yesterday, Spot, one of the kuhlies, was at the front of the glass on the substrate and was making weird faces at me. He had his head raised and was waving his gills.

Picard: They are not only alive, but they have intelligence.
Mandl: Why do you say that?
Picard: They're trying to communicate with us.

I wish I could hear them :rant2:

I have read that the columbian sharks make some kind of noise, I don't remember now what the noise was and of coarse I have know idea what site I read that at but I had two and they were not doing so well and in my research of them I know I read that they make some kind of noise because after reading that I was alway's trying to listen and see if mine did. I never heard anything from them but maybe that is the one. Although from posts before mine is seems it could be a couple different fish, I never knew any fish made noise but wow I guess there must be several that do!
