When I was younger a wealthy family in the neighborhood used to hang their Christmas tree from the ceiling upside down in their house. I think it was in the entrance foyer as you first walk into the home. I never saw it, but a few friends did and said it was beautiful all decorated with lights and ornaments but very odd looking too. We would all wonder how they got it up there and why. Has anyone every heard of this before? I have always been curious about it even till this day.

sounds blasphemous..lol

A older couple down the road has their house decked out in lights, decorations and a huge sign with the meaning of a candy cane outside....and on there porch they have a upside down Christmas tree, not sure what it means though...maybe that Christmas has lost it's meaning???

Other gimmicks

In 2005 Upside-Down Christmas Trees became popular. They were originally sold as decorations for merchants that allowed customers to get closer to ornaments being sold. Customers then wanted to replicate the inverted tree. Retailers also claimed that the trees were popular because they allowed larger presents to be placed beneath the trees. Upside-down Christmas trees come in three varieties: stand-alone, ceiling, and wall. The stand-alone trees have a flat base. Ceiling trees have a base that can be bolted into a ceiling, and wall trees are generally half of a tree, that are bolted to a wall.

It's from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upside_Down_Christmas_Trees

The upside down tree looks nice but i still perfer the traditional look

Interesting, "Hanging fir trees upside down goes back to the Middle Ages, when Europeans did it to represent the Trinity." Appreciate the feedback and merry christmas!
