I was shopping in one of the largest aquarium and supply markets I have ever seen in my life in Guangzhou today. I came across several "underwater" lights - I have never seen these before. One kind was round - about 1.5" across, maybe LED. They came with filters to change the light. The second kind was a standard florescent tube.

My questions.

1. After I get my tank set up I want to create a volcano in the corner. I want to be able to create an "eerie, volcano like glow" glow coming out cracks and crevices in the volcano. I will be buying an 80 (or more) gallon tank that is 20" tall. How many of these lights should I buy? What colors should I get? I was thinking at least a yellow, red and orange light would create the effect I want.

2. Does anyone know anything about these underwater tubes? Are they as bright as the standard tubes that are hung above the water?

I've installed Egg Lites on a couple of ponds. Your round LED lights sound similar, if not the same product. Three of them wrapped around a bell fountain gives a beautiful glow at night. They're 3/4 watts each I believe.

ive seen a volcano thingy at my local petsmart (meaning 54miles away lol) and it has leds all up in it.
