ughhhhh husbands can i use this for my fish tank

i sent my husband to the store today cause i was working asked him to get me some more stress coat to put it my water as i am changing it once a day he came home with stuff called reptisafe it says it is a water conditioner for all species of snakes , lizards,turtles .amphibians and so on and so fourth it also says reduses ph and removes ammonia and help prevent its accumulation it says it adds electolytes including calcuim do u think i should put this in my aquarium i personally think it is basiaclly for putting in his lizards water but he says they told him at the LFS that we could use it in the fish tank also ?

I haven't done any research at all, outside of reading your post, but I prefer to use products specifically for aquariums... I'm assuming you can get your money back, or exchange for something else..

i have seen what you are talking about and i think they prep the water for different things..i am not 100% sure but i would also try and exchange ..a good lfs would let you exchange but if it does all it says it does ..it shouldnt hurt! the calcium additice ghouldnt hurt ..if you have snails it would benifit them ...

well i would like to keep the stuff because i also have 2 house geicos in another 10 gallon aquarium tank and no i dont have any snails i am afriad of them as strange as that sounds

ok i will not add it to my tank but as i have said in my othe rpost i am brand new to this hole fish thing i love them to death already but the pet shop told me that my ph was high and they wanted to add things to lower my ph levals but as ppl have told me on here and the more i read about it every night it is other things in my tank that i should be worried about i should have read up on being a fish owner b4 buying a fish but like an idiot i went into the stor ebought a tank and the fish that i liked and threw them in the tank if i could turn back time i would do it all again thank god for everyone on this site i have 5 fish that have made it threw my poor fish keeping but anyways ....... will not use the reptisafe for my fish and from now on will do the fish shopping myself lol thank you all again

I used reptisafe on my stuff when I had only a betta in a 3 g and then I think I used it in my 15 for a little till I got the right stuff (we have torts). I don't think it will harm short term if you don't use a ton. but if you are just going to get the other stuff anyway, bring it back. I stopped when I realized it lowered pH.

Lowering pH is futile and less healty than having a constant pH, as I have read.

well i just got the tank not long ago about a week now if that and wasnt aware that i had to do cycling and all of that so im not sure wut it would be normally i have got it down now to about 7.5-7.8 which from what i have read id good but i dont know should i keep putting the cycle in everytime i do my daily water change to keep it down i didnt put it in tonight when i did the w/c i just put in the stress coat that takes out the chlorine and crappy stuff from my tap water my fish are doing great now thank god cept those lil terrors the serpae are terrorizing the other fish but i think they are just trying to play not really nipping just kiding bumping into them like a shark would a human lol
