I have a 5" tyre track eel. Had him for just over a week. He seems to be thriving except that I never see him eat. I have been feeding frozen brine shrimp and freeze dried tubiflex worms. Is there a better food for him? Something he might like better?

I drop the food right next to him, but he doesn't seem to care much. All my other fish get so excited and go into an eating frenzy.

Any suggestions, advice?

Meaty fods are a good choice. I found that mine prefers the frozen foods--I feed Emerald Entree that has a mix of meaty foods-to the freeze dried foods. They tend to be nocturnal, so feeding after lights out will help. Live blood worms are taken with relish, as are small chunks of earthwrom--they must be small enough that the fish can eat them. I had to pull an overly large piece from mine's mouth--too big for him to swallow. They can be fussy initially, and a week or two to get comfortable isn't unusual.

Thanks OrionGirl. I fed him some frozen brine shrimp today. I saw him eat a couple of them. Its a start. Yeah, he seems to be getting more and more comfortable. Maybe I'll try those emerald entrees too.
