Well here it is! The beginning of the turtle tub!

I will be getting some floating plants here this week, and a heater(however the room temp will keep it at least 78 as that is as low as we set the AC. Im going to work on a better basking area from a separate plastic tub, so for right now he gets that nice big rock.... well actually its three rocks! Theres a "waterfall" where the filter comes out.

I bought some floating pellets and a full spectrum light. I need to set up another heat lamp, the full spectrum doesnt really produce enough heat, but I have a heat lamp laying around from the hermit crabs.

Hopefully the rescue will like my little set up!

Looks good! One concern with the tubs is the bowing... That can be fixed a couple of ways. One is to buy a second tub and put them one inside the other. Another is to build a frame of 2 X 4s to support the weight of the water.

Yes yes... I saw... we didn't have the supplies to do it today! there will be concrete blocks on the back side that will hold up the "basking area" as for the front we were thinking the 2 X 4s and making a sort of stand...

Just out of curioustiy is that a 68qt tub?

no... its larger than that. its like 105qt or something like that. 99l if i remember correctly. the waters like 8-10" deep... im really really bad at guessing depth...

can I ask why your curious? lol it was an odd question...

Just remember that you will not have to go too overboard with the basking area for these particular squirts... It is wise to provide one, but they are not known for a lot of basking :)

A stand would be neat, and you could incorporate something to hold the basking area as well :)

I like what I have going now... i may or may not leave it...the rock basking area is kinda neat I found these rocks out back that I washed up real good, but whats so cool is that they slope together, so one slopes and then goes flat and i can stack the next one up so that it lines up with the slope of the next so its an easy way for him to get out and I shook the tub to make sure it was stable, no human error, turtle squish land slides for me!

My turtles loved to rearrange my rocks when I stacked them. I hope yours doesn't.

Me too!!!!

that would be bad... but I spent a good hour arranging them....

The setup looks good. If your house is that warm indoors then I wouldn't even bother with a heater. Your basking light will also warm the water up.
