I also posted this on the illness thread but Im hoping someone might see if if I pop it here as well. Can someone please tell me how to treat Camallanus worms with Fenbendazole? Do I just soak the fish food in it? I know for certain its Camallanus worms and its most if not all of my guppies, mollies and platies in one tank and dwarf gourami's and rainbows in another tank. I tried the Jungle brand food but after days they refuse to eat it and the Fenbenzadole is all I can find off of the treatment list. The brand I got is Safe-Guard Dewormer for Goats and its 10% 100mg/ml. Ive already soaked blood worms in garlic and they chowed those down. Hoping I can save some of my fish before its too late. Thanks very much.

Hi Melissa
Sorry to hear, I hate these parasites with a passion. I have treated with Fenbendazole, and while it's often too late for some fish by the time we see the worms hanging out of their anus, it IS survivable. My Bolivian Ram Bo had the worms several months ago but is now healthy.

Before treating do a water change and vacuum well. I used Panacur powder, which I believe is the same as the Safe-Guard Dewormer. It came in 1 gram packets, so for my 20 gallon tank I had to divide the packet into 10 tiny equal amounts. It didn't dissolve too well in water, but nevertheless I used a baby food jar, 1/10 med and shook the heck out of it, added enough worms for one feeding and a little garlic (tried flake and pellets too, but they would only eat the worms).

Dump entire contents into tank. Feed Fenbendazole-soaked worms twice daily for three days, but don't add more medication to the tank. After three days do a water change and vacuum, then repeat treatment in three weeks. Good luck!

Right. This is liquid though which is why Im having a hard time figuring out the dose. Do you know how many mg is in the packet?

Sorry, I can't remember where I found how to calculate the dosage, but if 1 gram is 1,000 milligrams, then I used 100 mg for 20 gallons, and it seemed to work. Does that help?
