Will "PimaFix" treat swim bladder disease? All of the sudden my Platy is swimming funny. Every once in a while she tilts on her side. Just wondering if that will treat it because that is all I have here. If so I have a hospital tank for her to go in.

Thanks

I have an albino tiger barb that did the same thing. He would swim sideways, upside down, and occasionaly ram himself into things in the tank mainly after feeding. I was clueless what to do for him but the problem eventually corrected itself. He's been fine now for a couple months.

So how is your platy now? Did the Pimafix work? I have a little darf cory with this problem and he doesn't appear to be eating the peas. I just put some Pimafix in last night. I will try an epsom salt bath next.

I am not sure if it worked. I haven't seen her tilt to the side since I started treating her, but she didn't do it all the time anyways. I will update id I find out something new.

Aparently shellless peas are great for swim bladder disease.

Also if your sure it is swim bladder disease make sure you give your fishy friend a full varied diet, I've heard a lot of dried foods cause swim bladder problems basically because the fish have eatten the flakes etc before they've fully absorbed all the water they can take. as such the flakes expand in the stomach and put preasure on the swim bladder effectivly stopping it from functioning as well. As such maybe a few days dieting will help or some frozen food perhaps ?, just a thought.

ypou could soak the fod so that it expands before the fish eats it, it will keep the food from expanding in their stomach, and peas do act as a laxative they wil unclog bolcks in the fishes body

believe it or not a product called 'Fungas Guard" is used to treat swim bladder disease. Made by Jungle, it is in the instructions. I've used it and the fish has always responded, but in the long run it just keeps coming back.

I have Jungle Fungus Clear. Will that work, too? My other cories and fish have never exhibited this problem. I throw peas in the tank maybe once a week. My cory could have some other problem. He definitely swims in a corkscrew and seems like he can't control it. He'll just stop swimming and fall to the bottom of the tank. He is usually laying on the bottom on his side.
