Total Newbie Help

So i had this idea to grow aquatic plants the other day, and today i tried my luck at it.
So hopefully you guys will be able to tell me if i am going to kill poor things or not.
I have an extreamly small tank that large glass jar. approx 4 liters. 3 small plants, cant tell you what type, one is grass like, one is called 4 leaf clover and another one that looks like an underwater succulant. 3 small neon fishes, one slightly bigger fish and one large orange snail. also the guy at the pet store gave me a gimped up small shark or something for free, apparently its got some problem and will proably die. (death to sharky) i planted the tank with a layer of peat, thin layer of rockwool, and then gravel. its being contantly filetered on the lowest setting with a carbon filter.
The lighting is not done yet but i will either be using one or 2 13 watt cfl lights about 3 inches from the top of the tank.
So do u think it will be death to sharky and everyhitng else? shouldi light the tank from the sides? should i worry about feeding the plants?

Any 'shark-like' fish will likely not survive in 4 litres of water.
Even 3 neons is pushing it.
The most I'd keep in there would be the snail and a few ghost or cherry shrimp and a betta.
I'd keep track of amonia levels in such a small amout of water, this is what will kill your fish.

Oh, not meaning to sound so hard, welcome to the hobby. I hope you'll invest in a nice sized tank, its alot more interesting and you'll have more satisfaction in the end and happy wet friends.

The 13 watt bulb should be plenty for 4 litres of water, but watch the temperature as small bodies of water heat up very fast. All you need is a few drops of flourish or liquid aquatic plant fert once a week.

cool, yeah i thought it would be okay to have the 4 fish, the shark like fish may be doesnt look happy.
what about feeding the plants? can i use some hydro nutrients?
 
oh ok, can i get that at pet smart? what are some good ferts? sorry i have so many questions but i am new to unterwater growth. what is a good starting point for light cycles
 
can you get a bigger tank? how long have you had the shark? do you have pictures of the shark? your plants will probly grow just gotta wait and see for those things.
