I'm honeymooning in Hawaii in August, and am researching on reef diving/snorkeling. Reefscape says there are Tiger Sharks, so I'm looking at pictures of these beasts, and I come across this.

PLAY IT SAFE
To reduce the rare chance of attack, follow these simple rules:
don't surf at dawn or dusk;
don't surf near river mouths in flood;
don't **** in your wetsuit;
don't surf with a bleeding wound.

Don't **** in your wetsuit???!?!?!? What?? Sharks are attracted to pee???? ROFL Is this a joke?

Never heard of not peeing in your wet suit/bathing suit. Never seemed to increase the risk when I dove and snorkled in the keys. I actually encountered quite a few reef sharks and one bull, those guys become aggresive easily. Don't remember if I peed or not, but they didn't seem to interested in me. Funny someone should include that in the tips. Gotta love those goblin sharks. If you like weird always check out the megamouth shark .

Many aquatic animals use ammonia levels to detect other animals. The same way mosquitos use CO2 to detect mammals to feed on; ammonia can be a reliable detector of a potentail snack.

Sorry, but I'd probably agree it's a possibility. Most animals have a much greater ability to detect these chemicals than do humans, and predators use them to their advantage.

stressed or panicking fish give off a faint scent (this wasnt known until somewhat recently) that sharks can detect so they can literally smell fear. They also respond to human sweat so it wouldnt be suprising for them to respond to urine.
