When it comes to schooling, I understand numbers provide comfort for the individual tetra's. however, as a defense mechanism in an aquarium, is it effective? so, will a school of 6 cardinal tetra's be more likely to be picked off by an angelfish or discus then a school of 12 or even 30 or will with the size and numbers found in this hobby is it simply too small to have an effect on predatory fish?

well, a school of 6, vice 12, is more likely to get picked off more QUICKLY.. but ive never seen a school of fish that was large enough to fend of a predator in the home aquarium.
