Tetra Flora Pride

Our corporate box store does not carry "Flourish" or "Excel" and only carries Tetra Flora Pride. Has anyone had experience using this as a fertilizer? They make another fertilizer for aqua plants but the label clearly showed it contained copper. The Flora Pride says nothing about copper nor could I find any additional information on their website. Content labeling says it contains Potash and Iron, phosphate and nitrate free.

I tested it on a tank that I felt it should be safe in. The few plants I have in there went from a pale green to a nice darker healthier green. After three days from initial application the plants then began to become slightly pale again. Label directions say only a monthly application or whenever a water change is performed. To my untrained eyes this indicates that it does help to a degree. I am looking for anyone else's experience using this product. Is it invert safe?

Thanks for the input.

I don't use it but I believe it contains similar amounts of iron and potash as the Kent Freshwater Plant supplement that I use. I don't understand why they want to dose only once per month? I dose a couple of times a week.

It's for low tech tanks where little fertilisation is needed. It'd be damned expensive to use it in a hi-tech tank of any size.

My Kent product costs me maybe three dollars a month, dosing 60 gallons of water every few days. I use about half the maximum dose.
By the way, I doubt any of those trace ferts contain enough copper to harm your inverts. Kent has only .000001% copper.

Florapride is rather expensive, though I do find myself occasionally buying it because it's the only fertilizer the local Petco sells, and they often throw coupons my way.

It does contain copper, though it shouldn't have enough by itself to kill inverts. If there's copper in your water source, or something leaks copper in your tank, then altogether it may accumulate to dangerous levels. By itself, it should be harmless.

It is the only fert I could find around here. It's not like I have any planted tanks. Have just one tank with a few and wanted to try something to see if it helped.

have you thought about just buying something like Plantex CSM+B? just get bottle mix it with distilled water and you have your own liquid ferts at a fraction of the cost. i make mine out of old flourish bottle thats 2 times as powerful as floruish. if this is something you would want to do i could find the exact mix. rex or tom has it on their site.

At this point in time, trying to make heads or tails out of anything less than "ready-made" is an exercise in futility. I thank you for the suggestion and will try to remember that you can make home made ferts.

all you do is measure some in some water shake it up and thats it. now if i can find some cheap bottles ill make my own and sell.... MG trace.....

again trace aka flourish is just one part of the ferts needed..... there is also pnk which are more important then trace.... excell is a liquid carbon source.
