If you look close, you can see the top of each face is cut out for accessories.

Well, I think it is just under the glass top, to the left of the book.

What you can see in the picture are the cutouts - I don't think there's actually a filter on the table in the picture.
What a wild idea - my cats would go nuts!

I would think it would be under the table and would be a canister. If not it would look like junk. But think of change the light from under the tank..
