I was shopping at Home Depot yesterday in the landscaping section and noticed Landscaping stone ( river pebble ) looks to be the exactly what I have in my 55G. The only difference is the price is literally a fraction of what you would pay in a tropical fish store. I am setting up two other large tanks. Should I finally set up the tanks and still be able to eat for the next few weeks for should I starve and go the the Tropical fish store again?

Any suggestions out there in fish land ?

Wrong board. :)

You can get some great rocks at a landscaping store too- we have a pond shop in town where you can get holey rock sometimes for 30c a lb. They also sell home grown aquatic plants.

I love the sand in my 55; it's pool filter sand from Leslie's, less than $10 for 50 lbs. It looks nice, the fish like it and it's a lot easier to clean than gravel. I have pebbly gravel in a 20 and it seems to collect an awful lot of debris.

Welcome to AC btw! :D

gravel

I would use pool filter sand. Very easy to clean because all the poop stays at the top. You can buy it at a pool supply shop for about 6 bucks for 50 lbs. Sand is much easier to maintain in my book. P.S. Don't use playsand, it is smaller in size than pfs and floats around alot.
