I'm using DIY co2 on a 29 and a 36, time to change the mix though. I have 2 AC50's on each. if I add a power head to each tank and locate it near where the staghorn is groing will that help me get rid of it? The info I read said lack of circulation and CO2 was the cause . Is this info right?

staghorn is a pita. I guess it won't hurt to try. Do you have a drop checker? Try to remove as much as you can and make sure your co2 levels are good throughout the tank and it should go away.

you can also move your drop checker to other places in the tank to make sure you are getting good co2 to all places in your tank.

I just had to spend two weeks away from my tanks about a month ago, and staghorn got ahold quickly. I didn't give some new purchases a peroxide bath and viola! The most effective treatment I've found ( and I'm no expert ), is to remove the algae by hand, and trim off leaves it's stubbornly attached to. Mine has reduced drastically after a heavy trim and a good dusting of the plant leaves every day will help keep it from re-establishing. More water flow may be good for some of your plants but not all like water movement. What plants do you keep?

I have anubias, crypts, java moss, vals, tiger lotus in the affected tanks. it's mostly in the java moss. It's easy to remove from every place else. I just trim it outof the java moss, but was wondering if I was missing anything else, different than what I read on how to control it. thanks
