I've been looking into adding a sponge filter to my 60 gallon TURTLE tank. Can anyone recommend one to me?? I've searched through the web and came across Penguin 660R Power Sponge Filter. Any reviews on it??

Thanks!

I've probably got 6 or more different designs of sponge filters and they all work well enough I'd buy them again. The two things I look for when I'm buying them is price and size, other than that I think most selling points are gimmicks. One thing that I can see someone arguing over is that some of my sponges (not sure on brand because I bought them used) are designed so that the airline goes through the upflow tube and connects to a cross (similar to the point on the end of a phillips screwdriver). this works well but over time the crap builds up and the airline becomes clogged and the airflow drops. the Hydrosponge is the most "professional" appearing that I have. I found some fritz brand sponges online that were the cheapest small sponge but I havn't been looking for larger ones. Find one that fits in the space you want for the cheapest price, there's not that much difference. Kyle

That's what I use in my tank with my red eared slider. I have it in one corner with the jet pointed longways along the glass so it circulates the water in a circle around the tank. I only have the one turtle in the tank, so I drain the tank completely and clean the sponge while it's draining. It works great for me! ;)

Hey guys, thanks!

Im going to look into the hydrosponge/fritz brand you mentioned as well as the penguin 660r and make up my mind. any other suggestions are very welcome!
