I have never used sponge filters before and I am considering getting some for my shrimp tank. Has anyone used the one in the picture before?

Hows the output like? Does it get the job done? Water crystal clear?

It gets the job done. I have the one that has the single suction cup and don't like it as much since it sags when I do heavier water changes. Besides that shrimps like it since it ads flow to swim with o against.

Thanks guys, I never used a foam filter before so I was unsure.

Here goes nothing

I also have the 1 with the single suction cup, and it keeps my 5.5 gal pleco growout tank clean. Very easy to use and clean. You'll like it. Good luck.

Get an ATI Hydro Sponge filter. It's easy to get replacement parts, and they work better than any cheap sponge filter. Ken's has great prices on them :)

Sponge filters are my favorite filters. With regular tank cleaning and water replacement they are really all you need unless you have some big fish. They are amazing with bioload, are easy to clean, and best of all, they are cheap!

You can also do sponge filter combinations with other filters. I have a sponge filter over the intake of my HOB. I find that it works pretty well at keeping the plants from getting sucked into the filter intake. Works great as a pre-filter filter too :P
