spider plants?

my sister has a a 'spider plant' growing in a cup like this

shes about to throw it away.

will it grow in my aquarium?

shouldve researched first...
apparently they will grow with the roots underwater and the plant above water, fully submerged, they will just rot.

yes they will rot fully submerged, but there is no reason not to put it in the water in your filter, or tank, it will help remove waste ie ammonia, nitrites, nitrates
 
+1 unless you can build some kind of raft for it to float on I would put it in your filter.
