Hi guys.
I haven't been on here in quite some time-
I've been having a great time with my snailies, though!
Now I have an ivory, black, gold, lemon, purple, and a beautiful chestnut mystery snail all happy in a 30 gallon tank. I have spixies in there too- the spixie lay eggs frequently and I have several baby spixis that I have been selling or giving away-
my question is this. My fish tank is right above the snail tank. I only have a black molly, 2 dalmation mollies, a couple rasboras and one lone tetra- I would like to consolidate them all into one larger tank- will the fishies do okay with my snails? My son has platies - several, in a tank with lots of snails- a couple mystery a spixi and lots of malasian trumpet snails,= they seem to do fine but I am hesitant to move my snails....
they are also in room temp water, and the mollies are at about 82- Would my snails be happier warmer?
any advice is appreciated!
thanks!
janet

they will most deff be fine in with the mollies but the temp is a bit high. it will increase shell growth (in a bad way) and shorten there lives. why do you keep the tank @82?

hi there!
Ya know- good question- I turned it up a while back I think, when they were going through some ich probs, added salt and increased the temp-some aquarium person told me just to leave it there because they "liked" it-
but, I consolidated last night, and when I made the transfer I put them in a preheated cycled tank to 75degrees-(I let their tank cool down, first,) and i can not believe how "happy" everyone seems today! The snails seem to like the warmer temp- should I bring it down more over the next few days? is 75 still a little too warm?
Also, I got a couple mystery snails from ebay(beautiful purple and magenta!) and the seller said she adds aquarium salt to the tank-
I thought snails didn't like aquarium salt- but she insists it is good for them??? Please advise.
I just want them to be healthy.
thanks,
janet
