Snails and Red Clawed Crabs

Anyone else's RCC's like eating snails? I dropped a pond snail from my cherry tank into my community tank and found that my crabs love them as a snack! I started doing this a couple times a week in order to keep down the population of snails and now they don't even last 5 minutes in the tank before they get pounced on.

Wait...you have crabs in a community tank? I didn't know there were FW crabs that didn't need land. Or am I missing something? Cuz I know for a fact that we had a fiddler crab (or some kind that was sold as a fiddler) in a tank with an Oscar when I was little. But it climbed up a plant and got out. Everything I find says that there are no freshwater crabs that are full aquatic.

Well, in a perfect world they would have their own half land half water tank. As it is i leave the water level a few inches lower than i normally would and they like to climb up the airline and hang out above water there. I'm thinking of building a floating platform or something in the future. They can live without ready access to land quite well.

my crab loves the floating island I made her and has dug a burrow with 2 entrances in it...

Nice! How large is this island? That's in your 15 gal right? What did you make it out of?
