Well, i was useing rope light for a while, it works but not great. So i changed my set up. I have two small 5 Inch Neon tubes for use in a car. I have set them to go "always on" (so they dont flash to any kind of beat. I am powering them off a small 10V 0.85A Adaptor (Sega Gen Adaptor ) 
It works GREAT!
