I am looking into getting some shrimp for my 75 gallon, and I have 5 Dwarf Neon rainbows and 5 threadfin rainbows. they are all at about 2 in to 2.5 inches. I know that the rainbows throat is to small to actually eat adult shrimp but was wondering if they still might TRY to eat them ??

Do you want ghost shrimp or The crystal red fancy ones or whatever? If you just want regular ghost shrimp try it out. They're cheap to test. If your fish eat them...it's a nice snack anyway. And if a few ghost works you can move on to nicer species.

I have 2 larger Amano shrimp in with my rainbows....have not seen any interest/aggression towards the shrimp at all, though its only been a week or so.

I think Amano's would be fine, but others may get eaten as baby Neocaridina are easily eaten by even bettas and dario darios(1")...I'd just get amanos OR start off with a larger colony of RCS or CRS...at least 20 so half make it to breed...

My rainbows eat small ghost shrimp. It was a good idea at the time.

well I got a few different types as my lfs had a 40 % off sale this weekend... so I got Amano, Ghost, Tiger and Cherry shrimp.... the shrimp have plenty of room to hide as its actually trick to find them because I have 2 larges pieces of driftwood for my clown pleco and it seems the shrimp hide in there with him lol ..the only time ive noticed anything id when one of the smaller tiger shrimp was swimming up near the surface they were chasing him a bit, so I think as long as the smaller ones stay low everything should be ok
