why do so many people say theat banded sharks are so hard to keep because i figure that they are greedy eaters and should be tough as nails as they are in nature. that being said i have no knowledge on banded cat sharks can someone give me some advice. i will be getting a 200 gallon aquarium

Behavior in the wild is not behavior in an aquarium, first off. There are many schooling fish that will kill conspecifics in an aquarium--even a large one. Eating behavior in the wild is seldom seen in the home aquarium, especially for piscivores.

Water quality is the other key aspect. We can never really duplicate the water quality found in the ocean--unless you have access to clean ocean water and can do daily water changes, it's not even really close.

Sharks are one of the more difficult animals to keep successfully. Pleas be patient, and do tons of research, before buying one of these animals.

donny25,
I have had an epaulette shark for the past 4 years and must say they are a very easy animal to keep in a home tank, mine has jumped out on numerous occasions but that doesnt seem to affect him at all .
my water quality is nothing to write home about ,always -10 -20 ppm and my shark is thriving
Cheers,
Scott
