Hey, how do you determine the sex of platys? I've heard something about black spots on a female, I thought I had a male and a female up until today, because one would always chase the other around, but today the smaller guy has ben chasing the bigger one.

males have the pointed gonopednd or how ever u spell it. its the pointed thing under there fin and females are arounded

The female will have a fan shaped anal fin, the male will have the gonopodeum(?) or whatever it's called. Like a tube shaped anal fin instead of the fan shaped fin of the female.

A picture is worth a thousand words. :)

A picture is worth 1000 words, from the 2 books I read up on it looked like my plattys were both males and females, but I just looked, and I have 2 males. Picking up 3 chicks tomorrow, all my LFS has.
