I got a weird tank the other day at a Chain LFS. It's actually a Tetra 10 gallon Half Moon tank but in a MarineLand Box and on sale. It has a Whisper Internal, a bizzare little heater, LED lighting. I was going for a 5 gal to fit a space I had but this tank only has a little bit bigger footprint but an extra 5 gallons for water stability (dwarf Shrimp, low bio load).
The tank needs to be Lower KH/GH and Higher PH (like 8+).
I was thinking about setting it up with RO water and Cichlid Sand to try to accomplish this.... but I don't really know what the heck I'm doing. I know how to make a low KH/GH tank and I know how to make a High PH tank... but I don't really know how to make a "mix". I've used limestone, but that also increases KH/GH (I think)? I'd like it to have a decent buffering capability.... but once again, what do I know?
Any suggestions? Or better yet... can anyone just tell my dumb fanny how to do it? I've never kept anything that didn't do fine in my 7.8, Primed, hard, tap water before. :nilly:
