I just got a new tank for my daughter's fish, and she has been wanting a glass catfish. I told her that she could not have them previously, because her tank was only a ten gal and we had to get at least 6.

The new tank will be a 25 gal, planted, with approx ten male guppies, maybe a few more. Can she have her school of glass cats?

I'm not sure of the answer to your question but I do remember reading an article about glass catfish. I believe it said the min. tank size was 25 gal, and the person was keeping them with male guppies. Anyway, I have 9 glass cats in a 55 and they are so awesome! They don't seem as sensitive as I have read. Good luck, I hope your daugher gets her fishies. :)

I think that I am going to go ahead and get them for her. I think personally that they will be just fine in the tank with the peaceful little guppies :D

I have looked into glass cats too, though I've never had any. From what I can tell, I'd say go for it as long as the tank is established and stable. Good luck with them, they're really cool fish! Keep us updated.

Well, the tank is not yet "established" itself, but all the substrate, plants, driftwood and filter came from the 15 gallon that housed the guppies previously. I transfered everything this afternoon/evening. I can't imagine that it will have too many issues (I never really do, lol.) My new tanks cycle in a week, so...

Yes I know that, and considering I have to drive 60 miles to get them, it will be a few days :D

i think 6 of them in a 25g should be fine. heck i used to have 20 rummynose and 30 cardinals and a bunch of guppies and platy's in a heavily planted 20 gallon long.
