I was at the lfs today and saw some silver dollars for sale. They had four of them in the tank. Three of them were red hooks and one of them was the more common silver dollar you find in stores. They were about 5-6 inches in length. They wanted 12.99 for each fish. Is that a good price for them? If I had a big enough tank I would have bought them but I don't.

good price, especially for the size, but as with many of the species of silver dollars, they do get big. good to hear about hobbyists who know when not to buy.

Oh, man, I was looking for Red Hooks.

Yah, DARN good price because they are hard to find on the East Coast. They get 12"+.

Guess I'll have to be happy with the teeny weeny ones I have :)

Wow that is a good price, but before you buy something like that make sure you have a tank big enough for fish that grow 12"+

I've seen red hooks almost as big as a paranha and mistakened them as such. LOL

You wouldn't want a tank less than a 125g for it. I'd imagine. They school as well.
