I have a 55 gal community with a bunch of java moss and reddish brown algae growing all over it. Is there a good way to kill the algae off without hurt the moss? I've looked for SAE at the shops in the area and they seem to only carry flying foxes...

To be a little more specific, there's no ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates (or a minuscule amount), and the pH is ~8.0. The light started out about 12 hours a day, though for the past couple weeks it's been maybe a couple hours a day, seeing if that would help kill it, but to no effect. Feed once a day. I'll post some pics whenever I can find a camera...

i got a huge portion of xmas moss with some of that red type of algae...my RCS took care of it along with similar algae that was blackish.

I should have mentioned what I have in there, which are neons, hatchets, danios, ottos, cherry barbs, a clown pleco, and the kicker, a blue crayfish. I'm guessing he would eat any shrimp, and I don't think I want to spend $2-$3 on one shrimp just to find out... Even ghost shrimp are like $1 each around here :/

Netrite snails, amanos, some fish go graze on algae or you can just target the algae with flourish or excel.

I've had red cyano. Not that red but it was red. I think that's what it is based on how it's drapped across the moss. It doesn't look anything like BBA or staghorn to me.
