I am having a waste problem with an aggressive SA tank…Can anyone recommend a catfish/bottom feeder that can live with the following fish? They are:

1 - Jurupari
1 - Jack Dempsey
1 - Texas Cichlid
1 - Purple Chocolate
1 - Salvani
1 - Blood Purple Parrot
1 - Tire-tread Eel
1 - Gold Jaguar

if the tank is big enough... a fantail synodontis would work

also any fish will just add to the bio load- the only advantage of bottom feeders would be to get rid of uneaten food- but then the fish will just poop it out in a different form

heres a photo of synodontis eupterus

for keeping the uneaten food/algie down- snails work best in my opinion- ive got rams horn snails in my tank and they keep it pretty clean b/c snail poop is pretty easy to clean up

My tank is 75gallons...I will need to get a larger tank, but right now none of my fish top 4". I run both a Vortex Diatom D-1 Filter and an AqualClear 100, totalling about 500gph of filtration.

well i have a 4 lined pictus and he did well with my south american cichlids before i turned my 55g into an african tank

A fair sized hoplo cat will do the job. I have two in with my cichlids they get along great. My big one is 6 inches the small one is about 4.

They are aromoured cats so even when the other fish take pot shots at them the cats don't even flinch.

I also have a a large synodontis notiatus in one of my tanks. Nobody even knows he's there let along bother him. Granted he is now about 10" long.

Putting aside the tank size. I keep clown loaches, pictus cats, synodontis euriptus, rainbow sharks, red-tail sharks, and even some larger cory cats with my large central and south americans. The fish you mention are semi-aggressive and would work with any of the fish i mentioned assuming tank size and that the cichlids arent full grown as to they can just swallow the fish out of curiosity.. .

FWIW: I'd ditch both filters and pic up 2 Aquaclear 500s or 2 Emperor 400s. You will be much happier with the results.
