I live in kansas i just found a guy selling these two different types of fish and he says both will do great in the tank and is saying i should probably invest in a nice filter with bio wheel. Just wondering what you guys think.
Heres some pictures of the parents of the two different fish.......they look pretty good me..

They're beauts - slightly bigger tank would be better though - is it a 40 long or standard 40 ?

why dont i have breeders around here that have unique fish??

buy me one and ship it!! haha

as far as choosing... they are both incredible fish.. I cant choose

its just a normal 40......i think......its 36" long, 1 foot deep, and about 17" tall.
Im building a diy styrfroam background for that i started a forum for in the diy section.
but of course ill buy u one lol......im actually gonna breed em so ill jus get ya some babies or something

but i really dont kno what other species i want? cus i really want an easier to care for fish thats really colorful and will fit my tank, im new to cichlids and i just wanted to find a good local source so i dont have to hassle with ppl i cant go check out the fish you kno?

Well...I think you are a little short on room for either of those species.

You could consider mbuna (Lake Malawi species). Either a tank of pseudotropheus saulosi http://www.malawicichlidhomepage.com/panis/pseudotropheus_saulosi.htm like these - you see the way the female and male are different colourations. Say about 8 or 10 of those...maybe 3 male, the rest female.

Or, you could have some labs with rusty cichlids or labs with afras - 1 male 3 females of each, 8 in total.
