Bear with my long story please, I'm so excited!
I was having no luck keeping "ghost" shrimp in my 14-gal Biocube with other fish so I started a small shrimp-only tank with my remaining two. They seemed to be doing better so I wanted to branch out a little.
I was at Petco and saw they had some "blackberry shrimp" (does anyone know what these are actually called? are they a tiger shrimp of some kind?), the shrimp were sold individually in little betta cups. Two were a dark blue/purple and one of these so-called blackberry shrimp is actually white-ish with two red stripes on her back.
The white one right away I could tell had eggs so I was really excited at the prospect of babies.. then I looked in one of the darker shrimp's cups and she had eggs too! Not only that but there were tiny baby shrimp all over the cup! She was racing around trying to scoop them up! So I went home that day with two pregnant shrimp. How exciting!
The next day my husband called me downstairs to look at my shrimp tank and my larger ghost shrimp had green eggs as well! THREE pregnant shrimp all at one time!
I know this isn't super exciting for those of you who may breed, it might be a regular occurrence to have prego shrimp on hand, but I am SO excited, I had to come tell someone who might share my enthusiasm
So, how long will it be before my little ghostie babies start to hatch or swim around?
First two pics are "blackberry shrimp" (look at the green plant, you can see little shrimp babies stuck all over it), third pic is also supposed to be a blackberry shrimp, and fourth pic is a ghost shrimp. If anyone is interested I will try to take more pictures!
