one of my ghost shrimp has about twenty black dots that appear to be in its stomach just above thoughs hairy legs they have that they tuck in most of the time. i was just wondering if she was pregnant

 anything with hairy legs and black dots on their stomach would be lucky to get pregnant!! Just kidding - i couldn't resist :cool2:

oops, i actually jsut posted on the general fw.

but one of my ghost shrimp has a big old green belly.

any ideas?

I just got several ghost shrimp, a few that are carrying cluches of eggs too, anyone know gestation periods and when I can be looking for babies? the eggs are prob a little less than a millimeter wide for the most part... any ideas?

FYI, the color of eggs change as they near hatching. They can also vary due to environmental differences. There are still many unknowns about shrimp, freshwater shrimp, in particular.

The justation time could be as short as three weeks or so, or as long as a month or two. Generally, the small the shrimp species, the quicker the justation, growth, and sexual maturity. And a much shorter live span. Under optimal conditions (for any given species) dwarf shrimp will last about 14 months, give or take.
