Preggy Platy behaviour?

Hi, I have a platy that is pregnant. I don’t know how long she has been pregnant because I bought her that way (about 1 week ago) but she has quite a big belly. I put her on her own in a bare-bottom 2.5 gallon tank, with a cup she likes to hide in and a piece of plant. At least three times a day I use a straw to get poo from the tank bottom, once a day feed her “gourmet” tropical fish flakes and twice a day will give her a few black worms. She is active and swimming around the tank, she can see her old friends because I put the two tanks beside each other. Even though she is white, she is not see-through and I can't see any gravid spot.

My question is, is there any particular behaviors she will exhibit before she gives birth?
I think I read that when platys are about to give birth they will go off their food and sit near the bottom and hide. I can’t remember where I read this though…
How long will she have these behaviors before giving birth? Is it different for each fish? Will she eat her fry right away, or is there a period where she doesn’t feel hungry and how long is it?

PS. Sorry about the size of this picture, it was the best of about 100 shots, coincidentally, it was also the smallest.

can you see the gravid spot infront of her anal fin? thats how you can tell if she is actually pregnant or not besides her having a big belly.... and it looks like a molly to me...

She just looks chubby to me... you can tell she's ready to give birth or is real pregnant when her belly looks sqaure like...

I think I can see a gravid spot, but it could be a trick of the light. Is the gravid spot supposed to be obvious or hard to see in platies?

The curve near her anal fin is much more square now than she was when her picture was taken.

There is an amazing lack of pictures of pregnant platies on the internet, so I have little to compare her with. If anyone can provide a link to a site with pictures of heavily regnant platies I'd really appreaciate it.

Are platy fry hard to see when they are first born?

Sorry to dredge up this old topic, but my molly (yes, molly) gave birth yesterday.

She was sold to me as a platy from the LFS and me, being such a noob didn't question it, until I was encouraged to investigate by you guys here. Thank you. :dance2: She is a silver short finned molly. In my defence, small mollies and big platies look very similar.:o

And she had seven beautiful little babies. They were quite easy to see too. about ---- that long. What do you guys feed baby mollies?
