Hi- I have an undergravel filter plate set-up right now, albeit with just the simple tubes and air lines. I want to upgrade to rugf, with a powerhead attachment or possibly even a filter. Its a 10 gallon right now. Any good powerheads out there for this?

a powerhead in a 10g tank may perhaps be a little turbulent... The smallest powerheads (maxijet 400 or aquaclear 20) are designed to kick out over 100gph...

Penguin 660 with reverse kit. A lot of the flow is reduced, pushing up against the gravel. You will need a small box filter to pull the debri out of the water column.

I use Aquaclear powerheads with Quickfilter cartridges for prefilters. The filter pads trhat come with the cartridge will clog very quickly though, so it's best to use some other type of filter media wrapped around the plastic core for constant filtration. A 100 GPH powerhead would be fine on a 10 gallon tank if running it reverse-flow. Since the water flow will be distributed throughout the gravel bed, there wouldn't be a particularly strong current through the tank.
Alternatively, you could run the UG filter through a HOB, but that would create a strong current in a 10 gallon tank (provided you used a large enough HOB to keep the area under the plate clear).
