I am looking to add 2 Powder Blue Gouramis to my 29 Gallon aquarium.

I have heard a person should get either 2 females, or one female and one male. If you get 2 males they will fight with each other.

Is this true? I would appreciate any information on the Powder Blue Gouramis from anyone who has had experience with them.

Thanks

yes they will fight. I would either get two females or one male and a female. However, it is hard to find females around where I live, but shop around

The name "Powder Blue Gourami" usually applies to a colour form of a 3 spot gourami. These gourami's are notorious for having ill tempers towards each other, although this behavior seems more predominant in the males of the species.

From a personal standpoint (I keep several gourami's) I probably wouldnt keep more then 1-2 of these in a 3 foot tank. Maybe only one if your tank is 30".

er... i had 4 of them in a 3 foot tank and they were fine. If we're talking about a form of 3-spot/blue (T. trichopterus) gourami. There was chasing, but nothing violent. I think the smaller ones are worse... but hey, that's not gospel, just my experience.

We are. I think that you had more females than males, as the males are like bettas--pretty peaceful to anything dissimilar with regard to them. The recommendation is one male to a tank, but females may be kept in small groups. For your 29, I would recommend two females max, and no males, as I know little about the aggression of males to non-gravid females.

'Round here, the "Powder Blue Gourami" is an all blue color form of the Neon(Dwarf) Gourami. Two males may/may not be o.k. together in a 29g tank. Depends on the amount of cover available and personalities. There will be chasing, if they are 3-spot or dwarfs. So, are they dwarf or T. trichopterus?

3 spots are one of the bigger species of gourami, right? (besides the really big species) My powder blues looked very dwarf like, never grew past 2 inches.

My male dwarf neon is pretty aggressive so I kept him alone. However, what will happen if I add male gold gourami and male perl gourami in the same tank. Are they going to fight? By the way I have a 3 foot tank.

I have 2 dwarf fire red gouramis in my 29 gallon.

They seem to get along but there her been more chasing lately. Once I get my 10 gallon set up I will probaby transfer my slightly smaller one to it.
