I bought some Marina polywool for my fluval filter. and it is pretty much pillow stuffing. Is it possible that I can just buy a bag of pillow-stuffing, say from walmart? Is it safe for the tank?

it is much cheaper to do it that way then by a tiny box of it from the pet store...

Polyester fiberfill is what most people use, the same stuff that comes in pillows, clothes ect.. Like u said its much cheaper and is available almost anywhere, ..........:)

yeah, i use pillow stuffing from walmart. It works just fine, although can clog quickly so pay attention to your filter output.

what kind of filter are you using it in?

i have a wet dry filter and the fluffy stuff used in a/c's and those plastic pot scrubbers make amazing bio media and water polishing stuff

I use it in most all my filters.

I use it as well. Just make sure that you are getting the kind without flame retardants, should be labeled properly on the package if it is treated with such chemicals.

It never ceases to amaze me how pets stores can take such common items and charge tenfold.

Make sure you get the stuff thats not treated with chems.
