I RECENTLY BOUGHT A PLECO AND IT IS DOING FINE.. I HAVE HAD HIM FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS AND IN THOSE 3 WEEKS HE SOMEHOW MAKES IT INTO MY FILTER? I SEEN HIM ONE DAY GOING IN THE WAY THE WATER POURS OUT BACK INTO THE AQUARIUM? IS THIS NORMAL? :coffee:

Plecos like dark places to hide. If you do no thave a cave for him, that may be why his goes into the filter. Also, what size is your tank and what are you feeding the pleco?

I Have A 10 Gallon Tank, I Have A Little Castle That The Pleco Usually Stays In. Once In A While He Will Come Out And Move Around And Stick To The Glass. But He Mostly Is In The Castle.

What type of pleco is it? If it's a common pleco he needs to be moved out of the 10g ASAP!!! Not only will he outgrow this tank (they can get upwards of 18'' or longer!!) but they are also poop producing machines and generally make a tank dirtier instead of "cleaner" as most people believe.

Plecos also like current and oxygen. They frequently will go for the best flow area which also happens to be the best aerated. A darker refuge with good water flow is ideal.

I thought my Pleco was a psycho. He will ride the air stone stream to the top of the tank and swim hard through the rising bubbles to the bottom of the tank and ride up again. He will do this for twenty minutes at a time! The first page of my web site shows him lazing around in a cave. He's actually the best one I've ever had.

yeah they love it the strong current i guess its like sticking your head out the window while your driving . . . not that i would do such a thing :troll:

my catfish and pleco's all swim in my bubble bar bubbles. up and down, up and down. They stop to eat when I put food in and go back to it. It's hilarious.

they also like the amount of algae that grows inside the filter and no way to clean it. it is very common for plecos to enter the filter....
