pleco +goldfish

goldies are cold water fish plecos are tropical its not a good idea to mix the 2, and some pleco will attack and suck the slime off you goldies and do damage i have seen this more than once so beware of what may happen.

Check it out everyone is going to freak but the whole pleco goldfish thing can be done. I've had mine for going on three years and they are all happy.I started with 2 comets from a carnival and got a 1 1/2" pleco for a buck.I kept all three of them in a ten gallon for about a year. Then they got transfered to a 29gl and they were fine and kept growing,i fed them only a little twice a day and doubled the filtration actually tripled it.Now a year after that they are in a 55gl and doing great. As for temp its around 72 which is fine for goldfish. If gold fish can live in a pond in the back yard all summer in 80 some degree water trust me 72 ain't nothing. Now the only thing is it does take alot of work every year your looking at getting a bigger tank which if you have MTS its not a bad thing.None of my fish are stunted and doing great. And next year i have an excuse to get a 100gl tank.So if you don't want to do the work or spend the money on more tanks than don't do it.I repeat if you don't want to do the work or spend the money then don't buy goldfish and get rid of the pleco.

haha i just didn't want the tank to take up a lot of room. but i moved some stuff around and got a bigger one. the pleco started nipping at the goldfish's fins so i separated them immediately. my dad now plans to get a new tank for the pleco and some new fish to go with it. but if this doesn't happen i've considered finding a new home for the pleco. thanks everyone
