these are the boys. the one in the back is dominant. the bite on the tail on the one in front was from another fish in another tank.

i'd post a pic of the new female but she's been on lfs food and isnt nearly as colorful as some you guys have posted. she'll look much better after 2 or 3 weeks of blood worms, shrimp and better flakes.

yup. have you seen the big blackbelt they took in on trade? its in a cube tank by the catfish. pretty nice fish.
they also had 2 HUGE oscars in the 240g the last time i was there.

heres one of my females. This pic was taken a while ago she double this size and has twice as nice coloring then at the time of the pic. A female Nic in full bloom can compete with some saltywater fish as far as color goes!

congrats to you all on the nice pics, keep up the good fish keeping.

Those are great pics. I have one myself. He was the only one at the store, so I bought him. But, now, I'm wondering if it's actually a female.

Great pics!

a little update. even lfs's make mistakes now and then..

i traded in a male to get a female and the lfs lady without thinking about it told her partner to throw it in a tank with another male and female of similar size. the established male thrashed him to extinction over night. i felt so bad i was going to give the store credit back but she said it wasnt my fault, and not to worry about it. i used the store credit to pick up a firemouth. hopefully i got a male this time.

so far ive seen my nics do a little chasing but no serious attacking. but then i have them in a 55 and she had them in a 15.
