I have a plant that looks like teh bottom one (perhaps different but it looks the same)
it started to grow algae so I put it above water with the base still in the water in my vivarium (20 long). It took off fast with the leaves above water rather than just slowly rotting in my aquarium. in fact it has outgrown the tank and should probably be removed. I don't think it is an aquatic plant... the roots are all across the bottom of the tank too, so I'm leaving it in there to absorb all the crud my amphibians produce.
I don't think the first one is an aquatic plant either...If you leave the top of it above water it will probably grow though.
I know you bought them out of an aquarium, but I can toss any plant into an aquarium and it will not die right away. Some may last longer than other, but that does not necessarily make them aquatic.
yeah, get the non-aquatic plants (the one in the top picture and mid pictures) out of there, and either pot it or keep its roots in the water but the main plant in the air. I think the bottom one is a sword, but it could be a land plant, too.
they are all terrarium plants. if you have ever looked at the plants they sell in plastic tubes with wet-root stuff in the bottom, that is what they are.

that's not really true, because many plants like aponos, amazons, and java ferns are amphibios plants, and must live exposed to the air in their natural habitats from time to time.
Ok thanks for all your replies folks I still have the "fakes" in the tank for the moment but I did go pick up a dozen anacharis 6 hornwort and a couple of java ferns I will be taking the "fakes" out when I get some more ferns in a couple of days and when I can get something to put the others in.
I hate Petco I dont know why I even keep giving them a chance. That is another thread though and it has been said too much already.
