anyone have or had one of these? seen one at my LFS awhile ago while i was picking up some HI FIN tetras and ordering a new frame for my 75g...

cool looking lil fella's thought about one for the 75g once its up and going but ive had dinosaur eels and african knife fish before and couldnt get them to live....

i've never had one, but always wanted to get one too. i hear they are really hard to keep and need to be target fed live food and babied alot. they are also supposed to hide all the time, so to me it's too much trouble. good luck with him if you decide to get him though.

my fish guy said they where easier to care for than the dragon and dinosaur and tire track eels......

said they eat cyclops and brine is what they feed them when they have them......said it usually only has 1 or 2 die but thats within 24hrs of gettin them.....which is understandable.....

im stll up in the air about them.....very beautiful eel.....but ive got 2 kids to baby i dont need afish that needs it as well!!! LMAO

just have to see...........only time will tell

I've kept peacock and zig zag eels for several years now and I love them. I have never had trouble getting them to eat and I don't find them difficult to keep. I do feed them live food and while they will eat frozen food if the stores out of live worms I avoid it as much as possible. They come swimming up as soon as the food hits the water and they often use their snout to poke around in the gravel to find escaping worms.

Peacock eels don't get very big, compared to the other eels. The max out between 6 and 8 inches. Zig-Zag eels get a little bigger then that. I don't know anything about the other fish you are thinking about keeping them with but they are not really aggressive and their mouths are so small they really can't eat anything very big or defend themselves.

They do like to hide and often bury themselves under the gravel and they do jump. I have lost a couple because of this so make sure EVERY opening is covered because if its there they will find it.

Hope that helps!
