I've been searching for a few days now and can't find the information I wanted. So I'll ask here. All questions pretain to female albino paradise fish, since that's what my lfs has.

1. Can you keep female paradise fish together, like you can female bettas? And can you keep 2 together, or do you have to have a larger group, like female bettas?

2. Can I keep 2 in a heavily planted 10g tank?

3. Are cories, kuhli loaches, and otos compatible with female paradise fish?

4. Should I feed them normal tropical flakes or betta food as its main food? Or perhaps a mix of both wont hurt will it? (Like tropical one day, betta the next)

5. Are female paradise fish compatible with larger bodied tetras? (The non-fin-nippers)

I have kept female paradises together without problems but I would say they are more aggressive with each other than female bettas.

No, IMO that's not enough room. I have a male and a female in a 29 right now and it's barely enough.

Should be perfectly fine.

They'll eat anything. I would feed a bit of both if you have them on hand. Any meaty food is appreciated.

Mine never had a problem with other fish including other gouramis. The only aggression I've seen is towards each other.

Personally, if I were getting one for a 10 gallon, I would get a male. They're much prettier :) Just keep in mind that paradises are like bettas and everyone has a different personality. But in my experience they're very hardy, not particularly aggressive, and breed like rabbits.

I've only got experience with the males... but:

10 gallons is definitely too small.
I've never seen a single issue with any bottom dwellers, and/or "sucker" fish.
My Paradise fish is not overly fond of brine shrimp, mysis, krill, and pretty much anything that isn't flake food. So, i have a variety of flakes so that he gets plenty of meats too.
Mine gets along with all the other inhabitants fine, including black skirt tetras, angels, and various bottom dwellers.

Thank you! The only reason I asked about the 10g was because I have one on hand and because everywhere I read on the internet says that the females are smaller than the males, but it never says exactly how big. So I thought I'd ask.

I know females aren't as common as the males, but I still can't seem to find any info for the females.

Ok, another question. Not too sure about this one. I'm thinking maybe no, but I'll ask anyway. Can female paradise fish and female bettas live together? I've read that male paradise fish will try to mate with female bettas and female gouramis, so would that mean that the females are compatable? I'm assuming not in a 10g, but in something much bigger like 30g or 40g it might be possible. What do you think?

Hmmmm...I've never tried it myself and I do not know of any others who have. Female bettas will create a hierarchy for themselves but I honestly do not know how they would treat another female anabantoid. My gut says not so well, but I cannot say for sure. Sorry.

If I were to try it though, I would pick a much bigger tank than 30-40 gallons.
