Hello,
Has anyone ever seen a successful choclate cichlid long-fin oscar hybrid.
My large female choclate cichlid is not interested in any of the male choclate cichlids but has paired off with my lone longfin oscar. I am doing the debate of moving them into a breeding tank to see what the baby's would look like. The eggs are not able to hatch in that tank due to the amount of plecos. Any opinions.

I havent seen one but think it would be very cool, if you do spawn them please post some pics.

These are the pair

I am trying to get a better pic.

Do you have any ideas on what the babies may look like? I have not seen many strange hybrids like this before.

I have no idea I do not usually cross species. But the female is intent on the oscar. I have a large male choclate that they constantly chase away.
There is an empty 60 gal that I could put them in but I am doing the debate of should I. since it would be a great reduction in space for the two of them to manuever around in. I have a 180 available to me but it is in my friends basement and i am finding others pretty reluctent to bring it out of there. (Heavy, Tight space and stairs for some reason I can not find volunteers to help move it!! HMMM! wonder why!!)

Well if you can get them to breed I would really like to see those babies.

PS any chance of seeing some pics of you plecos?

I posted pics of the plecs in the general section. Thank You!!

That sounds like a cool mix, I hope it works. Also although the pic could be better like you said, the oscar looks like it has some really nice colors, huh? Is that chocolate a temporalis?? Looks like it from the pic. If it is I think they'd be some cool fish. I've actually seen some like 4-6" of the other chocolate species, cory-?? something I think. Definately like the temporalis looks more, but the other is kinda cool looking.
My chocolate is a temp., and she has laid eggs about 5 times in her life, never were they fertilized, probably due to no fish being male or suitable. She hasn't laid any since the move to the new tank. I have a GT that I think is a fm and a little one I'm hoping/thinking is male.

Its about 2.5" and seems to have a bit of a bump on his head, maybe just wishful thinking, and ridiculous colors. Therefore I figure its gotta be a male. Has anybody seen GT/chocolate hybrids??? I think that would be really cool and therefore I will try.
Lady, I just saw you are from mi, where bouts?? Clinton Twp here. I saw your pics on a dif thread, nice. Your choc does look like a temporalis. Is the one with orange a flowerhorn, looks like it to me, its really pretty too. Where'd you rescue these fish from and which ones did you get??

But do you think they could be o.k. in a 60 breeder. The oscar is about 10" the chocolate 6" or 7".

the metalic orange spots mixed with the intrecit color changing shaded of chocolates instead of black/gray. sounds tasty
