Hi all!

Well, I will be the proud new owner of some OB Peacock Cichlids (Aulonocara Nyassae Var.), and in the tank is a royal pleco, a Johanna pike and a Synodontis Zebra Hybrid Catfish:p:. They all get along well in the 125 gallon tank.

My question is what other cichlids can I put in? I was thinking red peacocks would be pretty, but I can't tell from what I have read what other cichlids would work, and work well. There will be plenty of rock caves and hiding space. So, does anyone have any suggestions? I am open to advice on what is in there now and any suggestions all my fellow ac'ers have. Thanks everyone!!:hi:

ALSO-- would breeding guppies to feed my pike be better than feeding feeder goldfish? I can control my parameters and I have about 10 females holding, so is this a better option if I selectively breed them for best quality??:help2:

Thanks everyone!

OB peacocks are a man made hybrid that is a cross between a peacock and a mbuna. These guys can be a little more aggressive then some peacocks and can fit in well with mbuna. Since you have carnivorous fish I suggest not keeping them with mbuna and getting other peacocks. Also OBs will sometimes cross with other peacocks so I suggest an all male tank. When mixing peacocks you want to pick out ones that don't look alike to cut down on fighting.
Also guppies make great feeders! It's always best to raise your own since you can control what they eat and make sure they don't have any diseases. Even though peacocks can handle more meaty foods you still want to provide a balanced diet and feed veggie based foods as well. Peacocks can get bloat like mbuna but they are not as susceptible to it.

Thank you so much for the info, I very much appreciate it! It is really hard to piece all of that together based on websites! :grinno:

I think I will move the OB's and the pike to the 100 gallon. I really want some blue rams, so maybe I will do a more peaceful cichlid tank in the 125. Thanks again!
