Hi List, this is my first post here and I am happy to see there is a place to get information on aquariums. Here is what I have and what I am looking to do. I have a 90 gallon freshwater aquarium that had a 13in oscar in it who died recently. I decided to go semi-aggressive with the tank because I wanted to put in uncommon fish, and the ones I was looking at seemed semi-aggressive. I currently have some African Butterfly fish, Needlefish, toungefish and some red tail tinfoil barb. I am looking to get a dragonfish and some others, but am looking for recomendations. I am looking for anything unusual looking. Something not found in the normal aquarium, If anybody has any ideas please let me know, I am really interested in them. my email follows and I am hoping to get some good information here.

thanks

Depending on what you mean by "dragon fish" they are not aggressive. If you mean Arowana, dragon fish is a common name also for them, they are aggressive, but if you mean a Violet Goby, which are also often called "dragon fish" they are not, they only look like they may be.

There was a thread very recently about this topic called "The Most Brutul Mean Fish Ever." Pacu's and Wolf Fish were both suggestions.

To be honest, I am not exactly sure what the dragonfish looks like or is called, my local fish store said they get them in as an opportunity fish and are semi aggressive for a freshwater tropical aquarium. that is about all i know, when I get one Ill post a picture, but in the meantime any suggestions on any other unorthadox fish i can put in the tank?

Maybe a knifefish of some sort, they are very cool looking. A Black Ghost Knife gets a good size yet isnt agressive and would be fine with tinfoils and butterflys and such. African Knifes don't get a foot in length but they are a little more agressive, but because they aren't too big, they'd be fine with bigger, quicker tin foils and such. Don't get a clown or a royal knife. Way too big and agressive. And, only keep one knife to a tank.

hi
they are not that unusual but you shoud try some blood parrot cichlids tell me where you live becaue my friend owns a pet shop and i could hook you up you know they are 50 bucks a piece in other pet shops(thats expensive sushi) but he cant sell them because they look albino but if you fed them food with a lot of carotein they could brighten up a lot anyways send me a holler ill check meanwhile to see about any cool fish swimming around

hi again
yeah maybe they woul d be too agressive but have you thought about a freshwater rays they might be cool but they are pretty tough to keep and you would nned lot of hiding room they are nocturnal ad maybe you could try glass fish they aare neat but i am not sure abouut their toughness and all and depends on their size you might try black tetras when they grow their petoral fin they are very cool looking and try pristella tetras they grow **** fast and after a couple of weeks of having them their colours are 10x better their top and half their botton part aree transparent ive had great succes with them and they loook great in schools any way see ya

oh and tryy a a kuhli loach or a eel of some sort they are nice but can defend well se ya
