New to white cloud mountain minnows (a little advice please)

I just picked up a pair of white clouds to add to my betta tank (starting with 2, then adding 2-3 more later), and after doing a bit of reading I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing...

My betta tank sits at a pretty constant room temperature of about 75-76 degrees. I thought the minnows could handle that, but I'm reading that they get sick at that temp & require closer to 68 degrees and below.

Does anyone out there have white clouds? What temp do you keep the tank at & have you seen problems at higher temps????

EDIT: ALSO--One of the white clouds I purchased is extremely aggressive, & is constantly picking on the other minnow. Is this normal behaviour?

Thanks

My whitecloud tank is 72-75F and they are fine -Anne

Same here. If you have all males they will pick on each other. Mine did that as well, but now that they've established a heirarchy they rarely chase each other anymore.

That said I have three of them in a 29 gallon tank, so they have plenty of room.

How large a tank do you have them in?

At present, they're in a 3 gallon quarantine tank. After that I plan on putting them in a 10 g with 1 betta...

Mine are in a 5.5 with a betta (I have 3, 2 male and 1 female). The tank is at 77 degrees and I've had no problems. They've spawned but the eggs disappear overnight, caviar for someone. I think they will accept a wide range of temps, I kept mine outside last summer and they loved it. The most important thing, I think, is to have a stable temperature.

Mine are in a 20g with my dwarf gouramis, temp about 78. They are fine and actually seem to cut down the aggression factor in my DGs. At only .79 each I think they are one of the best choices I've found for a lot of applications.

OK, the aggression situation is getting worse..."Rocky" (the aggressive white cloud) is picking on "Bucky" (the passive one) to the point that Bucky is cowering behind the plants all the time, and didn't even come to the top for food this morning (Rocky got it all). If Bucky dies, this will leave me with 1 solo minnow in the 3 g. Since he can't seem to get along with others, what do I do? They're supposed to be peaceful schooling fish!

Correct, but a school of minnows is WAY more the 3. Closer to 20-30 fish, usually more. You gotta remember, when there aren't that many fish around to figure out the pecking order, all the aggression of the fish with be direct to fewer fish, or in you case "Bucky". So you might want to consider getting more minnows, or possibly a bigger tank with more cover for the fish to hide.
