Needle nose gar

If I'm not mistaken, I believe they do best as adults in brackish water. You might try archers or monos. You'll need a large tank cause they tend toward 14" & semi agressive fish need room. "T"

i would keep them in a brackish tank. my ideal bw tank would have 5 needlefish, 5 archerfish, 3 dragon gobies, a ramp with a few mudskippers, some monos and scats, a few large knight gobies, and some flounder on a sand bottom. of course this tank would be at least 125 gallons long and only filled until 4 inches from the top. i have been able to get a few local sw flounder to adapt slowly to bw ( i wouldnt put the 2 inch soles with needlefish). just know that needlefish ONLY accept live fish as food. they do school nicely and should not be kept singly.

When I had a pair before in a 55gal tank they only grew to about 6". Did they stay small because of the tank size?

what did you feed them? how often did you change the water? did you ever test for ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate?
