So I'm turning my 55gal into a livebearer guppy tank. I have 5 Amazon Swords in there and a small anuibus. I need to get some plants so the fry have some cover from the parents but I'm not sure what plants are ideal for this? Can somebody help me out?

Thanks,
Matt

From my experience with the couple batches of guppy fry I've had they stay toward the top level of the tank so you'll want some floating plants like guppy grass and or tall planted plants. Mine were taking shelter in Cabomba and foxtail.

I have Java moss in my livebearer tank never see guppy fry go in there though, platy fry and cherry barbs love it though. I need to attach some to the piece of driftwood I have that goes up 3/4 to the top of the tank maybe they'll go in then.

I agree with all the above plus I notice that floating riccia helps babies hide out too. If you have alot of surface movement than you can tie or net down riccia with rocks and that will help the fry.

I had guppies in my 15 gallon riparium for 10 days and there was about 50 fry popping up when I had to get them out into a bigger tank. They were hiding in java moss, java fern, IAL on the bottom, in spathophyllum and lucky bamboo roots, in driftwood and just about everything with a small nook or cranny. Hornwort, elodia (anacharis), java moss tied to something floating, killifish spawning mops, etc.
